Drinkable Aloe?

Hello Everyone!

This will be my first blog post on this blog EVER! I'll make it a good one for you ;)

So, yesterday I found myself in a bind. I had to much to do, not enough time, and no way to cook myself lunch. Sound familiar?

For more flavors, check here.
I had to stop at the bank, and my bank is located in a grocery store. Lucky Me! I deposited my check and ran into the health foods section quick to grab a meal bar and a drink. I'm always on the look out for something new, so when I saw the AloDrink I was intrigued. I've heard many good thing about aloe! It's good for sunburn, helps with hydration, and there is even been research that suggests that aloe could reverse the effects of AIDS. I don't have AIDS, but I am frequently dehydrated. I figured it was worth a shot.

The Cost:
I paid $1.79 (on sale) for a 16.9 oz bottle or grapefruit flavored AloDrink, which is about the price of a soda pop.

The Product:
I opened the beverage and was pleasantly surprised! I expected the liquid to be more gelatinous, but it had the same consistency of water.
I took a deep whiff of my hydration and again, happy surprise! It smelled like ruby red grapefruit. My favorite!

Now this was it, take the plunge and drink. At first, I was a little off put. It was not a watery beverage as I had first thought, the manufactures had put the flesh (or pulp) of the Aloe plant inside the bottle! After a few sips, it really wasn't noticeable, though. The consistency was similar to that of orange juice, only with bigger pieces of pulp.

The FLAVOR was fantastic! I'm a huge fan of grapefruit, and you could definitely taste it! And it tasted like an actual grapefruit, not the artificial flavoring.

The Dirt:

This product had no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors, and is made directly from the aloe plant. My information on GMO status is limited. From my research, Aloe is not a commonly genetically modified food. This product is NOT certified organic, so I am unable to say if there are pesticides used on the plants used for making this beverage.

Overall I'd give this drink 7 out of 10 points. The lack of information I was able to find is what keeps me from giving it any higher. If I can find out more about this beverage I may raise the rating!

This health food?

YUM!
